Today we’re throwing it back to a hot, sunny Saturday last June, where I had the pleasure of photographing this stunning wedding at The Frick Pittsburgh. This one was super personal for me, as Laura and Chris had become close friends to me over the year prior. I truly couldn’t wait to share this day with them and document every part of it. If I’m being honest, they turned out to be some of my favorite wedding photos I took that year.
I’ve photographed outside on the grounds of The Frick many times, but this was my first time seeing it set up for a wedding. Let me just say, it did not disappoint. The steps and columns outside of the art museum made for the most elegant and timeless backdrop for a ceremony in the city. The Farmer’s Daughter did a phenomenal job at adorning the railings with lush green and white florals that made my jaw drop to the floor.
Laura and Chris shared a ceremony that was filled with personal and unique traditions. The handfasting ceremony where was undeniably the most memorable, a ritual that dates back to the ancient Celtics. This symbolic moment represented the joining of their lives as they stepped into their future as husband and wife.
Following the ceremony, we quickly took portraits all around the perfectly manicured grounds of The Frick. There’s so many picturesque options on the property it was hard to choose where to even begin. The portraits on the steps of the art museum were some of my favorites. I felt that Laura’s very modern and timeless bridal look made these feel so regal and sophisticated. The ornate glass greenhouse also made for a top tier photo opportunity and was really pleased that we got photos of the whole wedding party here!
Overall, this wedding day was an absolute blast to be a part of and it went so smoothly without a hitch. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this venue. I hope that I get to photograph another The Frick Pittsburgh wedding very soon!
