This late March Succop Nature Park engagement session was the perfect way to dive right back into the 2024 wedding and engagement photo season. After a few quiet, cold months of winter, I was so excited to get back outside with my camera in hand. Although I do love photographing portraits at my tried and true Pittsburgh city parks, I am always eager for any excuse to take a little drive and photograph somewhere different.
Blair and Jamin had previously visited Succop Nature Park in Butler, PA as wedding guests and felt that it would be an ideal location for their engagement session. It is only about 20 miles outside of the city and offers abundant nature views and charming architectural elements. I was skeptical about how the foliage of the park would look in late March. I was pleasantly surprised to see how just how much lush green we were able to capture in the background of the photos.
Like many, Blair and Jamin were a bit nervous going into the engagement session. However, they quickly warmed up after a few minutes and a some prompts that got them moving around and laughing. Taking photos with your best friend and life partner should be a fun experience and I always try to keep the vibes relaxed and low-stress. My favorite photos from the session are the ones inside the tiny little greenhouse on the property. I noticed that the greenhouse had a broken window and immediately knew it would be an excellent opportunity to frame Blair and Jamin perfectly inside.
This Succop Nature Park engagement session is definitely one of my new favorites. I hope to do more portrait sessions (or even better, more weddings!) here soon. I’m looking forward to Blair and Jamin’s wedding in downtown Pittsburgh later this fall. Getting to know my couples before the wedding day is always such a treat. I loved that I will have gotten to take such a fun mix of nature and city photos for them this year!
